Rewarding Positive Behaviour

North Birmingham Academy has recently become part of the fantastic initiative, Vivo Miles. The new online approach is designed to reward students who make progress in their subjects or contribute positively to the Academy ethos.

The Academy wanted to reward students in a way that will benefit them in the long term and to give them a sense of achievement as well as financial responsibility.

Vivo works in a similar fashion to online banking and all students have a Vivo credit card which works in conjunction with the Vivo touch-screen kiosk, resembling an ATM machine. Students can swipe their cards and enter their PIN to check their Vivo balance and recent reward 'transactions'.

Students will be able to choose from a large selection of goods from the Argos catalogue including sports equipment, beauty products and electronic gadgets, as well as cinema tickets, tenpin bowling tickets, New Look and WHSmith vouchers.

The Academy is also supporting the Government’s scheme of Every Child Matters in its aim to achieve economic well-being.

Parents and families of students at NBA can also access an online area to see how many credits their child is earning.

Danny Richards, Assistant Vice Principal commented: “Our students have been involved in looking at ways we can support those that work hard at the Academy.  This exciting and innovative scheme has now been launched and we look forward to our students and NBA reaping the rewards.”
