Drama
Drama is a hugely successful department and a real success story at North Birmingham Academy. Taught in two specialist Performing Arts studios, by experienced teachers, students have an excellent track record in achieving outstanding results at GCSE.
We incorporate methods of assessment in Years 7-9, using levels as in other subjects. Also we are developing new media/film/ICT resources and activities at KS4.
Departmental Philosophy:

- To promote social skills, communication, negotiation of meaning and co-operation.
- To promote competence, confidence and enjoyment of all types of Drama.
Aims:
- To enable students to have experience through active identification with imagined roles and situations in Drama, in order to explore issues, events and relationships.
- To experience and develop students' understanding about themselves and the world in which they live. This involves changes in their customary ways of thinking and feeling.
Objectives:
- To encourage contributions from individuals.
- To allow them to use non-verbal and verbal languages as a means of expressing themselves.
- To enjoy and participate in a variety of situations, including some performance work.
- To appreciate and understand others.
