Whether it be holidays, outdoor pursuits or leisure activities, the fast changing and indeed growing tourism and leisure industries can offer a range of varied and exciting jobs. You will learn the business and practical skills needed to start your chosen career.
Suitable for all students, especially those with an interest in working in the travel and tourism sector. The course is also suitable for those with a keen interest in completing course work rather than examinations. A good attendance record is vital. You will also need a good record at Key Stage 3, including homework and class participation.
In BTEC Travel and Tourism we study 3 units:
Students can go onto work in a variety of places, including tour operators, airports, sports and leisure centres, tourist attractions and much more.
Many also stay on at College to complete a degree, either in adventure tourism, tourism management or marketing.
N.B The Geography Department are having a ‘Travel and Tourism Taster’, in Module 4 of the lesson rotation. Year 9 students will have the opportunity to further investigate this subject which has not been studied at KS3.
