Course Outline
- This course is suitable for students at Key Stage 4.
- It is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care sectors. It is a work related qualification and prepares students for employment and/or a career in the vocational area.
Course Content
The syllabus covers two core units plus four specialist units.
Core Units
- Communication and Individual Rights within the Health and Social Care sectors
- Individual Needs within the Health and Social Care sectors
Specialist Units
- Cultural Diversity in Health and Social Care
- Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
- Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care
- The Impact of Diet on Health
Assessment
- Each unit contains a statement of evidence that each student should meet in order to achieve a pass, merit or distinction.
- All work is internally assessed and externally verified.
Students gaining the certificate complete 2 core units and one specialist unit. This is equal to two GCSE 'C' grades or above.
Students gaining the diploma complete two core and four specialist units. This is equal to four GCSE 'C'grades or above.
