"Given some unexpected media coverage I wanted to reassure all parents, students and staff that the future of North Birmingham Academy is secure.
"E-ACT has been working with the DfE to identify where they are best placed to make a significant difference to their Academies.
North Birmingham Academy is not one academy under discussion currently. I will of course share any further developments with you as soon as I am able to."
Finally, I would like to thank all staff, students and parents for your support."
Mrs K L Popratnjak, MBE
All staff, students, parents and visitors can now enter and exit the Academy via the entrance off College Road.
AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE
NBA LISTED AS TOP 100 MOST IMPROVED SCHOOLS NATIONALLY AND RECOGNISED FOR IMPRESSIVE STUDENT PROGRESS
We are proud to have been listed as one of the UK’s top 100 most improved state schools; one of only sixteen schools from across the West Midlands to be named in this impressive league table.
The list is comprised of schools that have shown the most improvement in the number of students achieving 5 + A* to C grades at GCSE or equivalent. After consistent improvements in the Academy’s results, NBA was delighted to announce a further 7 percentage point increase in 2013, their best ever performance and with a staggering 93% of students achieving the key milestone of 5+ A*-C grades at GCSE.
Added to these impressive achievements, the Academy has received written confirmation from Minister of State for Schools, Rt Hon. David Laws, that NBA is also among the 108 top performing schools in terms of the progress of disadvantaged students (as published on 23 January 2014).
“We are absolutely thrilled with our 2013 exam results and being listed in the top 100 most improved schools from across the country. We are also incredibly proud of our impressive performance in terms of the progress made by our disadvantages students. We are fully committed to ensuring every student at NBA achieves their full potential and these accolades confirm that we are achieving this. As an Academy we have transformed our performance and are now a high achieving and aspirational place of learning and look forward to achieving our ambitious targets for further success in the near future.” Principal, Kim Popratnjak, MBE
With impressive academic achievement, Ofsted validations as ‘good’ with outstanding features, an impressive new £23.5m building with exceptional facilities and groups and with more primary pupils than ever before choosing North Birmingham Academy as their first choice secondary school, it seems the sky really is the limit for this local school.
